I stare at my screen, trying to write.
But the words won't come out, he's choking, how.
The clocks run out, times up, over, blaow!
Eminem plays on loop in my head, mocking me.
I still can't write a single word. My publisher is going to be pissed again. I slam my laptop shut. This is hopeless. I head to Reddit, hoping some mindless scrolling will unleash the creative beast within.
That's odd. There are no new posts. I refresh the page about 5 times, with no luck. The same posts I saw yesterday keep popping up. Annoyed, I head to Instagram instead. No new posts here either. Argh!
My phone chimes with an incoming text. 'Breaking news,' it reads. The headline catches me by surprise and I choke on my coffee.
'The world has run out of creativity,' the article reads. 'Musicians, artists, and creatives everywhere are facing a crisis today. Unable to produce any new thoughts or ideas, panic is settling in across the world.'
Run out of...creativity? Is that even possible? I snap my laptop open to search for myself. The same news jumps out at me from every source. The hashtag #icantcreate is trending on Twitter, and reaction videos are aplenty.
Wait. This means no more music, no more Netflix...no way. How can this even be possible? I dig deeper on Google. Some people are predicting an alien invasion (of course). Others say the end is near. But one article stands out to me.
'Scientists are predicting that a virus is causing this lack of creativity,' it reads. 'Scientists from the National University of Singapore have identified a new strain of the Pathokijedihu lacereativa virus that targets the Frontal Cortex of the Human Brain. The Frontal Cortex is responsible for creativity and any thoughts associated with creativity. The virus spreads through air and water.'
Stunned, I read on. 'The scientists are working hard towards finding an antidote, but it seems they can't think of innovative solutions. The virus has affected them too.'
